Our Story
Hi! We're Kevo and Heidi. We're adventurers at heart, we've backpacked remote wildernesses in the Sierra and lived nomadically across South America. For years, I (Kevo) settled on prescription sunglasses and carried two pairs everywhere: normal glasses and sunglasses.
That backfired on me once in Death Valley; I trekked up a remote 700-foot sand dune. I forgot my normal glasses in the tent, and my sunglasses became too dark to see the sun set, and I missed out on witnessing the dunes lit by the full moon.
If you wear glasses, seeing well outdoors has always been a compromise.
- ✕Regular glasses leave you squinting at UV rays
- ✕Contacts dry out after a full day outside
- ✕Transitional glasses aren't polarized and barely activate behind a windshield
- ✕Regular sunglasses are always too dark so you're constantly swapping

We set out to develop our dream sunglasses.
Heidi has spent over 10 years in eyewear manufacturing. If you've bought glasses online, there's a good chance you've worn glasses she's produced. Through her work, we uncovered a lens technology that's both polarized and adaptive. I got my hands on a sample.
When I first put them on, the world looked so vivid and dimensional. The lenses adapt their tint so well to the environment that I honestly forget I'm wearing sunglasses even when I'm indoors at the grocery store. The adaptive lenses freed me to go out wearing one pair and not bring anything else.
We couldn't keep this to ourselves. My eyes felt like they were comforted by sunlight instead of blinded by it. That's why we named ourselves Puffy Sun.
Not enough people wear sunglasses, and we understand why.
Prescription sunglasses have been expensive and cost over $400 for two reasons:
- ✕A single conglomerate has a stranglehold on the eyewear market and use that to mark up prices by 10-20x. A retail pair of non-prescription sunglasses that cost them $15 to make, they sell to you for $300.
- ✕Most sunglasses brands don't know how to manufacture their own lenses. They outsource prescription to other labs, driving up costs.
We're able to offer premium Rx sunglasses at $199 all-in because we manufacture your prescription and assemble your sunglasses in house.
That $199 gets you Puffy Shift adaptive polarized lenses and your prescription built in. No hidden fees, no add-ons. We want everyone to experience going out with one pair all day.

One Pair for Wherever You Go
We're a proud independent brand. We handle everything from start to finish, from building the website, designing the packaging, curating premium lenses, manufacturing your prescription, assembling your sunglasses, shipping your order, to helping you out with anything you need afterwards. If you're not satisfied or if we mess up, we'll do whatever it takes to make it right.
These are our dream sunglasses, we hope they become yours too.

Puffins are bold, colorful birds that dive deep into the ocean, soar above sea cliffs, and thrive wherever they land. Just as the puffin adapts to different environments, our Puffy Shift sunglasses adapt to changing light.
